Jeff Fultz and Walker Motorsports Take Advantage of Rare Opportunity to Race Together this Weekend

MOORESVILLE, NC (Jan. 23, 2019) – Although it was not originally planned, Jeff Fultz and Walker Motorsports have entered CRA’s Speedfest in Cordele, Georgia, this weekend to chase the $10,000 top prize. The opportunity arose after Fultz’s original plans, which did not involve driving a racecar, fell through.

“We originally were going to go down there with Steve (Wallace) and help him, but he had something come up where he couldn’t go,” Fultz explained. “It was going to give me a chance to relax this weekend, but all the guys on Walker’s crew help me with Steve’s car and they wanted to go racing. So, they convinced me to help put Chris’s car together and here we are, a few days later, getting ready to head to the track.”

Fultz already has a successful history with Walker Motorsports and the Furniture by Walker Toyota. In their 2018 debut, the pair visited victory lane in CARS Response Energy Tour competition at Myrtle Beach. They backed up the performance with another top five finish in the Easter Bunny 150 and ran a handful of other events throughout the season. Fultz’s home track at Winchester Speedway gave the team the opportunity to visit victory lane again when they won the 100-lap super late model portion of the Labor Day World Stock Car Festival last year.

The pairing may change Fultz’s luck at the unique .375-mile Watermelon Capital Speedway oval in southern Georgia. In three previous PASS and CRA-sanctioned starts there, he has yet to finish in the top ten. The lack of results does not crush Fultz’s spirit, however, as he claims to still enjoy racing the facility.

“I’m excited to get back to racing with CRA for one, I’ve always enjoyed racing their events,” he said. “Second, the results don’t show it, but we’ve been good there in the past and it’s a fun racetrack you can really charge around. I think I had a race where I was leading, went off track and came back on still leading, just to blow a tire. I had another one where me and Kyle Busch got tangled up and ended up in the watermelon patch off the backstretch. It’s a fun little joint and I think we can make something happen this weekend.”

o matter what happens this weekend, the team will use the weekend together to dial in their machine for the Rattler 200 in Opp, Alabama, in March.

“We had already been planning to go down to Opp with Fultz, but this deal came up and it sorta put things into overdrive,” said Chris Walker of Walker Motorsports. “We hurried to put the car together, but I think it will help us fix any bugs that may be in it before we go to Opp. While we always want to win when we go racing, the big goal is to set this bad boy on ‘kill’ for the Rattler and see if we can go win that one.”

Activities for CRA Speedfest officially kick off on Saturday with parking and open practice, followed by qualifications at 5:30 pm ET. The second day of sanctioned on-track activity, including the ARCA/CRA Super Series 200-lapper, rolls off at 1:30 pm ET on Sunday afternoon.
