Weedsport Kartway’s ‘Octoberfest II’ Coming to SPEED SPORT & MAVTV

WEEDSPORT, NY (March 29, 2019) – Dirt kart racers will have the opportunity to compete before a national television audience at Weedsport Kartway on September 28-29, as ‘Octoberfest II’ will be featured nationally on SPEED SPORT and MAVTV this fall.

The $2,000 to win ‘Octoberfest II’ Clone Heavy main event will be the focal point of the one-hour broadcast, with highlights and recaps of the rest of the day’s events included in the program.

‘Octoberfest II’ will be the eighth and final installment of Weedsport racing action on SPEED SPORT and MAVTV for 2019, joining seven other events from the popular Weedsport Speedway which features the Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modifieds, USAC National Sprint Cars, Stirling Lubricants/Champion Racing Oil Modifieds, ESS Sprint Cars and the RUSH Late Model Tour.

“This is an unprecedented opportunity for dirt kart racers,” said Weedsport Kartway promoter, Jimmy Phelps. “There haven’t been many chances for kart racers to compete on national television and now there is an opportunity right here in the northeast. We can’t thank SPEED SPORT and MAVTV enough for believing in our program and allowing us to make this part of our television schedule.”

Weedsport Kartway officially opened in October of 2018 with the inaugural running of, ‘Octoberfest.’ More than 300 entries took to the all-new Weedsport Kartway with over 30 individual entries competing for the night’s $2,000 grand prize in Clone Heavy.

Jeff Chapman would go into the history books as the first ever champion of ‘Octoberfest,’ taking advantage of a tangle between race leaders Chris Natoli and Trent Curtis on the final lap. Curtis would go on to finish second ahead of Jon Keister, Natoli and Josh Ostrander in the first ever 40-lap main event held at Weedsport Kartway.

This year, ‘Octoberfest II’ will conclude the Performance Manufacturing Super Kart Series presented by Stirling Lubricants & Champion Racing Oil at Weedsport Kartway, a five-event series that begins on Sunday, May 26.

Remaining events will be held on July 7, July 27 and August 25. Year-long point champions will be crowned during ‘Octoberfest II’ on September 28-29.

The voice of northeast Modified racing, Shane Andrews, will host the one-hour ‘Octoberfest II’ broadcast with Central New York race driver, Dan Kapuscinski, joining Andrews in the booth.

Rich Vleck will once again provide coverage behind the scenes and in the pit area.
