Stock Car Shootout this Saturday at DCRP

DODGE CITY, Kan. (April 30, 2019) – The month of May at Dodge City Raceway Park gets underway in a big way this Saturday night with the $1,000-to-win Stock Car Shootout atop the 3/8-mile clay oval in southwest Kansas.

Along with the Stock Car Shootout presented by Winner’s Circle Feedyards and Factory Direct Fireworks featuring the IMCA Stock Cars, Saturday’s tilt includes a full complement of championship chase action for Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Modifieds and IMCA Hobby Stocks.

Saturday’s racing action goes green at 7:30 p.m. with adult admission only $12 and children 11 and under admitted free when accompanied by an adult

It kicks off a weekend double with the inaugural Little DCRP event taking place on Sunday.

While Bazine’s Dusty Witthuhn reigns as defending DCRP track champion, Lamar, Colorado’s Angel Munoz has burst out of the gates in strong fashion by topping both events thus far in 2019.

It continues a trend for the 2017 track champion, as Munoz has raced to victory lane 11 times in his last 15 DCRP attempts.  Munoz will face a host of challengers from throughout the region seeking to deny him another trip to victory lane along with top DCRP representatives including Chris Oliver, Ondre Rexford, Marlin Hogie and Tyler Walker among others.

Matching Munoz in the win column at DCRP so far this year is Hays’ Dakota Sproul in the IMCA Sport Modified ranks.  Sproul is two-for-two in the win department, opening up an early lead in the title chase ahead of Brian May and Jeff Kaup.

Luke Cranston and Brian Herbert are knotted for the DCRP Sprint Car points lead after splitting wins in the opening pair of events while Duane Wahrman climbed to the top of the IMCA Hobby Stock point charts ahead of defending champion Reagan Sellard after collecting his first hardware of the year this past Saturday.

In total, the 2019 season atop the 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval is slated for 18 nights of action along with another eight Sunday cards atop the newly-constructed 1/7-mile Little DCRP clay oval.
