Busy Weekend Set for PASS North Racers at Oxford Plains

NAPLES, ME (May 29) – Another important stretch of races will be coming up over the next few weeks for the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North Super Late Model racers and it all begins this weekend at Oxford Plains Speedway. After a weekend off to follow, the Hopkins Milling & Paving 150 at Speedway 95 will give racers the chance to get locked into the biggest race of the year as part of the “Road To The Oxford 250.” And then, June 22-23, PASS returns to New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon for the New England Short Track Showdown, the fourth PASS National Championship event of 2019. But, before all that, Super Late Model racers will be busy at Oxford Plains on Saturday for a local show and then on Sunday for the Honey Badger Bar & Grill 150 for the PASS North Super Late Models.

Waterboro, ME’s Curtis Gerry will be one of the busiest drivers of all this weekend. Gerry is in his first season competing for the track championship at Oxford Plains. While a former Oxford 250 winner himself, Gerry realizes competing on Saturday and Sunday could give him critical knowledge for August as he seeks his second career win in the big race.

“It’s a doubleheader weekend for us and it will be tough for sure,” says Gerry, driver of the Ripley & Fletcher Ford/Saco House of Pizza #7G. “We’re going to try and go for a win Saturday night and a PASS win on Sunday so we can hone our setup for the 250.”

Oxford Plains Speedway is one of the trickiest racetracks in the country and several drivers will be joining Gerry in racing on both Saturday and Sunday to try and maximize their chances on the challenging speedway. A strong contingent of Maine drivers will be competing on Sunday including Scarborough’s Garrett Hall, winner of the most recent PASS race at Oxford Plains. Joining him will be former 250 winners, Travis Benjamin, as well as Mike and Ben Rowe. Fellow Maine drivers Tim Brackett, Tracy Gordon, Reid Lanpher, Scott McDaniel, and Kirk Thibeau are also currently entered. Defending track champion, Gabe Brown, will be in action as well as fellow New Hampshire drivers DJ Shaw and Derek Griffith. Ray Christian will be coming from Connecticut, while Vermont’s Bobby Therrien and New York’s Michael Scorzelli will also be trying their hands at Oxford Plains.

All the action gets underway this weekend at Oxford Plains Speedway on Saturday with local action beginning at 7 PM featuring the Super Late Models, Street Stocks, Bandits, Figure 8’s and Rookies. On Sunday, heat races begin at 2 PM, followed by features for the PASS North Super Late Models, PASS Modifieds, and NELCAR Legends.
