Bell Remains Confident in Team
Defending ROXOR 200 Winner Enjoyed Thunder Road Visit
Christopher Bell continues his busy weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway as the defending winner of the ROXOR 200.
Joe Gibbs Racing have won 4 consecutive races at Loudon and Bell pointed to the “great short track package” that the No. 20 Rheem-Watts Toyota team brings to places like flat, short ovals like ISM, Iowa, Richmond. The current turns 1 and 2 at ISM can apply to New Hampshire for drivers.
He’s not concerned about his team’s performance. Bell was second at Kentucky and is second in the standings, with 4 wins, 10 top fives, 11 top 10s, and 3 poles. 30 playoff points are second-best in the series.His 10 stage wins are the best in the series. Defending champion Tyler Reddick leads by 67 points.
The Norman, OK driver made his debut last night at Thunder Road Speedbowl in Barre, VT. He finished 9th in the Maplewood/Irving Oil Late Models, completing all 150 laps. The Governor’s Cup event has featured other NASCAR stars like Kyle Busch and Tony Stewart in the past.
“I did enjoy last night,” Bell said. “It was fun, man. They have a great following there and it’s really cool to see how many people show up, how many cars, how many fans and the atmosphere there is really, really special.”
Seth Holbrook helped connect Bell with track owner Cris Michaud. Bell compared the high banked quarter-mile oval to Volusia (FL) Speedway Park, home of the DIRTcar Nationals every year.
“The way the back straightaway was pretty round, front straightaway was straight.”
Bell had different expectations driving the Late Model compared to his usual Sprint Car or Midget races.
He enjoyed the visit and a large crowd visited the historic facility.
Bell has raced at New Hampshire since 2015 when he made his debut in a PASS Super Late Model race.
He finished second in first in his only NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series (NGOTS) races. He won his first XFINITY visit here.
“I feel good about this weekend. This is probably statistically my best race track on the schedule for whatever reason. It’s not by design my favorite race track, but with my history, it seems that it’s been good to me.”
Bell points to the quality racecars his team provides for why he’s been done so well at Loudon.
