Important: RI Travel Ban Racing Postponement 8.14-8.15

Update software patch illustration

As most of you are aware, the State of Massachusetts had implemented a travel ban on residents of Rhode Island starting on August 7th. 40% or more of the teams that compete at Seekonk Speedway come from Rhode Island.

For this reason, we are once again POSTPONING competition racing operations for this weekend (Friday and Saturday, August 14 and 15). Based on current trends in the numbers of Rhode Island, and the fact that other states (Connecticut, New Jersey and New York) took Rhode Island off their quarantine list, we are hopeful this travel ban will be eliminated next Tuesday.

As SOON as the travel ban is lifted, we will return to racing with both Fast Friday and our opening Saturday night of the 2020 season. Anyone who has pre-registered /pre-paid will carry forward to the next race event unless you call the office and request a refund.

In order to operate under the travel ban, each person from RI would be required to fill out travel form and have a negative COVID19 test submitted to the speedway and approved by the town of Seekonk BEFORE coming to Massachusetts.

The Town of Seekonk is mandating that the Speedway would be responsible for collecting valid negative covid tests before entering the Speedway while this travel ban is in place if you are a resident of Rhode Island. This will make it difficult for RI teams to compete between scheduling tests, costs involved and not having the assurance of getting them back in time for the Town Health Agent to clear them. This is not fair to the competitors from RI that have done the work to compete not to be able to while others can for something that is outside their area of control.

We are sorry for all the ups and downs of 2020 but these are the unavoidable last minute hurdles being thrown at us around every corner. We look forward to seeing everyone soon and will have updates posted once available.
