Power Seal and friends to present unique Fulton and Brewerton Sportsman Mid-Season Challenge on July 10

BALDWINSVILLE, NY (April 4, 2021) – Fulton and Brewerton Speedway supporter, Tom Juno, recently hung up his driving shoes after a stint behind the wheel of his beautiful and potent Power Seal #25 DIRTcar Sportsman. While he will be missed as a competitor, Juno, through his familiar Power Seal Driveway Sealing Company, remains a steadfast supporter of racing at the Fulton and Brewerton Speedways. In 2021, he adds another wrinkle, in a promotion that combines the forces of three area Asphalt Sealing Companies into one unique event.
Under Juno’s guidance, Power Seal, Tarvia Seal and Dura Seal will present the Brewerton and Fulton Sportsman Midseason Challenge to be held July 10 at Fulton Speedway. It is, at first, unique because it brings three Central New York-based Asphalt Sealing Companies together.
“We may be similar companies and in some ways competitors, we are all still race fans and friends,” remarked Juno, “AJ Martino of Tarvia Seal also raced for a bit and Jim Iannolo of Dura Seal has strong ties to area racing, so we came together to develop what should be a fun and unique race. The format is a little different than a dash and the purse is healthy so the teams and fans should like it.”
The event promises to be both fiscally healthy for the participating teams and fan-friendly. A total purse of $2,000 with at least $500 to the winner has been posted by the three area driveway sealers. The ten-car field will be comprised of the top-10 in combined Brewerton and Fulton Speedway points after the July 9 Brewerton Speedway event as a reward for supporting both Speedways.
A “revenge draw” format will set the line-up with each driver drawing then giving their number to one of the other nine competitors, even if its number one. Once the line-up is determined, the field will race as one for the first five laps of the event. Adopting a pursuit race format, beginning with lap six the last place car at the completion of each lap will be sent off the track until there are just two cars remaining. After a brief caution period, the final two cars will run a two-lap dash to determine the Power Seal/Tarvia Seal/Dura Seal Midseason Challenge Champion.
“Tom Juno does so much for our sport, particularly our Fulton and Brewerton Sportsman teams, “said Cory Reed, Track Manager, “Every year he tries to mix it up, make it fun, but also rewarding for the teams. We are thankful Tom is part of our family and welcome the support of AJ and Jim with this event.”
