Strong Run for Justin Bonsignore Ends With Overheating Issue at Star Speedway

EPPING, N.H. — Justin Bonsignore ran inside the top-10 for most of Saturday’s Tri Track Open Modified Series event at Star Speedway, but the end result doesn’t show it. The Holtsville, New York, native, driving for Jimmy Paige and the No. 00 team, finished second in his qualifying heat and ran inside the top-five of the feature before pitting close to halfway.

Bonsignore charged back into the top five, and was running there, when the engine started overheating and pouring water onto the track, which forced Tri Track officials to ask him to leave the track. Bonsignore was credited with a 24th place finish in the Prelude To SBM X 100 at Star.

“The car was really good before the pit stop and just a little snug after the stop,” Bonsignore said. “I think we could have been in the top-three. I’m really happy with the gains we made since the last race. It’s been good. Have to get some work done before Seekonk and see what we can do there.”

Bonsignore will return to Tri Track competition in their next event on Wednesday, June 30 — the annual Open Wheel Wednesday, worth $10,000 to the winner, at Seekonk Speedway.

Bonsignore returns to racing on Saturday, May 29, in race four of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season at Jennerstown Speedway.
