Woody Pitkat Wheels to Eighth Place Finish With Stan Mertz Racing at Star Speedway

EPPING, N.H. — Woody Pitkat wheeled the No. 6 Truly Hard Seltzer machine for Stan Mertz Racing to a solid eighth place finish in the Tri Track Open Modified Series race at Star Speedway on Saturday, May 22. Pitkat finished third in the qualifying heat, setting him up with a good starting spot for the 100-lap event. After running inside and around the top-10 for the duration of the race, Pitkat finished eighth and leaves the race sixth in the Tri Track point standings, just 16 from the lead, with four races to go.

“We are just chasing the setup just a little bit,” Pitkat said. “We’re also going to work on our pit road before the next race. We have just a few small issues we are going to straighten out. The competition out there is no slouch — it’s so good. We have to find the balance for the car to stay underneath me. A top-10 with this division, in one piece. We’re going to move on to the next race.”

Speaking of the next race, Stan Mertz Racing will return to the track on Friday, June 11, at Stafford Motor Speedway, for their second Open Modified 80 of the year.
