Forecast of 80% Rain Chance Saturday Forces Riverhead Raceway to Cancel July 3rd Program

Riverhead, NY July 2nd — With a dismal forecast for Saturday, July 3rd on Long Island that called for an 80% chance of rain and cooler than normal temperatures, thanks to a wind forecast to come out of the East Riverhead Raceway made a mid-afternoon decision Friday to rain out the Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series program. The event was to commemorate the 71st Year Anniversary of the quarter-mile oval.

The Fireworks spectacular, Kids Big Wheel Race, and the 4/6-Cylinder Demolition Derby that were to take place before weather interrupted over the holiday weekend will now shift to next Saturday joining the regularly scheduled race card. In action during the Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series portion of the July 10th program will be the Buzz Chew Chevrolet NASCAR Modifieds, Late Models, Eagle Auto Mall Crate Modifieds, Super Pro Trucks, Mini Stocks, and a Truck Enduro. The 8-Cylinder Demolition Derby set for Saturday has been canceled to allow for the 4/6-Cylinder Demo.

Spectator gates will open at 4:00 pm Saturday with qualifying to go green at 5:30 pm. Opening ceremonies and feature racing will be presented immediately after qualifying is completed. Adult admission is $30, kids 6-12 $10 with five and under free. Tickets are available on race day only at Riverhead Raceway. All events are live-streamed at Riverheadraceway.Tv which goes live 15 minutes before qualifying.
