Hodge Gets the Win at Riverside

Vermont’s Cody Hodge came from the rear and put his #72 in victory lane Saturday night at the Riverside Speedway and Adventure Park. After getting to the front Hodge was in heavy-lapped traffic but held on to get the first-place hardware. Groveton’s Julian Kenison also came from deep in the pack to score the second place trophy with a smooth move-in lapped traffic to get by the #9 of Nick Ogden. Ogden ended the night in the third spot in the Bad Boy Mowers of Morrisville Bone Stock fours. In the R.N. Craft Street Stocks, Maine’s Todd Libby got his second win in a row as he battled early with two-time Tiger champion Groveton’s Nick Gilcris. Gilcris hung on for second with Groveton’s Chris Caron picking up third.

The Claudette and Deans Place Daredevils had a great race as St. Johnsbury’s Brandon Sheldon had a side-by-side duel with Conway’s Alexis Lunblad. After a few laps, Sheldon got the lead and never looked back as he picked up another feature win. After battling with Sheldon, Lunblad had to deal with Grandby, Vermont’s Windsor Hodgdon. Hodgdon was running very well in the outside groove and after getting into second tried to run down Sheldon but ran out of laps and ended the night in second. Lunblad held off point leader Evan Gibert to finish the night in third.

The Bad Boy Mowers of Morrisville 6& 8 cylinder Bonestocks ran two features this week to make up a rainout from early in the season. Maine’s Jamie Heath won them both as mechanical problems sidelined half the field. Eric Prescott ended both main events in the second spot and Luke Jones also placed third in both main events.

The M.H. Humpfrey Lil Rascal Dwarf cars had a big night as there was a bunch of extra cash on the line for them. In feature one the #29 of Tom Harwood got through traffic and survived two cautions to secure the win. First-time visitor Cody Hodgdon ran wheel to wheel with Miller Buzzell for many laps before he moved in to take second place with Buzzell getting third. Then the winner pulled a # out of the bucket to invert the field and the # pulled was #15 which meant the top #15 cars would be inverted. Winner Harwood would start in the fifteenth spot. At the drop of the green, a scramble in turn one had cars spinning and going over the bank. Harwood went down pit road with engine problems and was done for the night as was the #8 of Brad Sanborn. Groveton’s Paxton Call got out front early on the restart and held on through the early laps until a turn four spin by Miller Buzzell brought out the caution. On the restart Call would lead a few more laps until the #14 of Andrew Harmon arrived in the second spot. Call got wide off turn two and Harmon took advantage and got the lead and the win. The #31 of Cody Hodgdon got around the #2 of Call and ended the race in second but Paxton Call was able to hang on and have his best finish of the season with third place. A great night of racing.

Next Saturday night is the championship night for the Creative Counters Late Model divisions Also the Claudette and Deans place DareDevils and the EKeys4Cars formula fours as well as the Bone Stock 6&8 cylinders along with the R.N. Craft Street Stocks. Post time 6 P.M. Hope to see you there.
