12k for the 12k: $12,000-to-win Gary Simpson Memorial at Georgetown Speedway July 22

GEORGETOWN, DE – 12K for the 12K.

On Friday, July 22, Blue Hen Construction presents the $12,000-to-win Gary Simpson Memorial Race at Georgetown Speedway.

The J.W. Brown Logging big-block/small-block Modifieds race for 32-laps around the progressively banked half-mile oval in search of the five-figure payday.

Gary Simpson was a Delaware resident who helped the growth of Georgetown Speedway before his passing in October of 2021.

Gary owned and fielded his No. 12K Modified, driven most recently by New York stars Anthony Perrego, Larry Wight, Michael Maresca, and Pennsylvania native Alex Yankowski during his time as a car owner. Simpson, who was a driver before transitioning to a car owner, had a long friendship with Ricky Elliott, who worked on and drove the car as well.

Now Georgetown Speedway honors Simpson with a race paying $12,000-to-win in honor of his No. 12K racecar.

Milford, Del.’s Jordan Watson has won each of the two J.W. Brown Logging Modified events thus far in the 2022 season, leading the pursuit of the $2,500 Sunoco Race Fuels Championship for the Modifieds.
