Coastal Storm Nixes June 22 Georgetown Program; Delaware Int’l Up Next June 30

GEORGETOWN, DE – A coastal storm moved over Delmarva on Wednesday, with significant rain and lingering showers forcing the postponement of Thursday night’s (June 22) NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series ‘Summer Thunder’ event at Georgetown Speedway.

BD Motorsports Media LLC – operator of the historic First State venue – made the announcement on Wednesday night.

“Looking at the forecast and condition of the facility, we felt the best move was to postpone the event,” Brett Deyo said. “Between the significant rainfall and more rain on the way, it was for the best of our fans and competitors.”

A non-conflicting make-up date for the event, which was to be headlined by a $4,000-to-win Millman’s NAPA Auto Parts Modified event, will be sought.

Georgetown Speedway’s sister track – Delaware International Speedway in Delmar, Del. – fires back to life on Friday, June 30 with the Rapid Tire USAC East Coast Sprint Cars, Millman’s NAPA Auto Parts Modifieds ($3,000 to win), Blue Hen Dispose-All Crate 602 Sportsman, RUSH Late Models, Southern Delaware Vintage Stock Cars, Little Lincolns, Delaware Super Trucks and Delmarva Chargers.
