Saturday Schedule Overflowing with Excitement at “The Bowl”

WEST HAVEN, V.T.– Following a scheduled break in the action on August 12th, racing returns in a major way to New England’s Fastest Dirt Track with double features, kids’ rides and vintage cars all part of the program.

Friend Construction presents double features in all divisions this Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. The event is the 14th of the 2023 schedule. There will be no heat races and all features will be lined up by handicapping. Saturday’s event also features the 2nd round of Kids’ rides during intermission this season, the first of which came on Fair Haven/Poultney Auto Supply Night, June 25th.

And if all that wasn’t enough, the much-anticipated return of the Mohawk Valley Vintage Dirt Modified Series will also take place Saturday night. Originally, more than 30 vintage modifieds and late model-type cars were slated to hit the track July 15th, but the event was washed completely out by heavy rains throughout the week. Devil’s Bowl Promoter Mike Bruno and MVVDMS Promoter Laurie Fallis were able to reschedule the event for this Saturday night and bring some of the rich racing history of New England Auto Racing back to life with nearly all of the originally committed entrants.

Parity continues to be the name of the game at Devil’s Bowl in 2023. The headline Sunoco Modified division has yet to see a repeat winner through 14 races. Orwell’s Tim LaDuc leads the championship point standings by 2 markers over Fair Haven’s Justin Comes. Both drivers had strong showings in the 67-lap ‘Prelude to the 200’ on August 6th. Manchester’s Frank Hoard, III was runner-up in the Vermont 200 qualifier, which was won by Oneida, Ny. Driver Matt Janczuk.

Elsewhere in the points sheets, Randy Ryan continues his season-long domination of the O’Reilly Auto Parts Limited Sportsman class with an 82-point lead over Queechee driver Jason Quenneville and Salisbury’s Gary English.

In the Hoosier Daddy Racing Novice Sportsman class, Tyler Travis leads Adam LaFountain by 44 points.

Other point leaders include Logan Denis (Friend Construction Mini Sprints), Mark Mahoney (Mini Stocks), Rob Steele (9th State Cannabis Crown Vics), and Eric Leno (Five Star Roofing Enduro Series). The next Enduro event is scheduled for next Saturday, August 26th. All other divisions mentioned above will be in action this week.

In the event of a rainout, racing will commence Sunday at 5:00 p.m., unfortunately without the Vintage divisions.

General admission is $15 and Infield Drive-In parking is available for $20. Kids 12 and under are free. Pit pass fees are $28 for members and $38 for non-members.
