Sunday Funday: Orange County ‘Hard Clay Finale’ Set for Sunday, Nov. 12

MIDDLETOWN, NY – Sunday Funday.

Evaluating the temperatures and forecast for this weekend’s rescheduled ‘Hard Clay Finale’ at Orange County Fair Speedway (OCFS) in Middletown, N.Y., management of both the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco have agreed to hold the event on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 12.

The postponement from Friday to Sunday allows for the event to be contested during daytime conditions, more favorable for fans and race teams.

“We feel Sunday will provide better weather conditions for this event,” Michael Gurda IV of Orange Motorsports & Entertainment said. “Looking at the forecast, a forecasted sunny Sunday afternoon will make for a higher-quality event for all.”

STSS organizer Brett Deyo appreciates the opportunity to conclude the $15,000 STSS Modified River Valley Builders North Region championship with a race.

“After a season embattled by weather, we are thankful to Orange County management for the chance to finish our 10th anniversary season on the track,” Deyo said.

“With the uncertainty ahead for racing on the Orange County Fairgrounds, the ‘Hard Clay Finale’ carries even more significance.”

Gates will open at 10:30 a.m., with hot laps at 1 p.m. and racing at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

The 50-lap STSS Modified event offers a potential $10,500 to the winner courtesy of Behrent’s Performance Warehouse and BDRSpeed.com and championship points toward the STSS North Region title fight.

The first 10 drivers across the line sporting Behrent’s Performance Warehouse decals will receive $500 each, a total commitment of $5,000 from Harry and Jeff Behrent. $500 is reserved to take the green

flag.

Crate 602 Sportsman – utilizing OCFS rules – will accompany the STSS Modifieds in the open-wheel doubleheader at the legendary fairgrounds. Crate 602 Sportsman will compete for a $1,000 top prize under a non-points-paying, draw/redraw format.

The ‘Hard Clay Finale’ will mark the 14th visit to OCFS by the series, which hosted its first-ever race at the Middletown facility on April 6, 2014.

Grandstand and drive-in admission is $35 for Adults. Senior/Military pay $30. Kids 12 and under are admitted FREE.
