Robert M. “Bob” Rugg obituary, 1951-2024, Hartland, VT

Hartland, VT – Robert M. Rugg, 72, died Sunday, March 3, 2024, at the Jack Byrne Center at Dartmouth Health in Lebanon, NH.

Bob was born July 24, 1951, in Windsor, VT, a son of Robert S. and Marion J. (White) Rugg. He grew up in Hartland and attended Windsor High School. Following school, he worked as a logger for Weld Brothers Logging, Hodgdon Brothers Junk Yard, and Vermont Log Cabin. In 1986, Robert met Lori Ashline at Claremont Speedway. They were married in 1987 and made their home in Hartland. Bob loved to work on cars, he took his passion and began working in autobody shops. He worked at Plaza Autobody, Cowdrey Autobody, Gateway Ford, and Jasmin Autobody, retiring in 2013.

Bob built, owned, and competitively drove racecars, motorcycles, and dirt bikes, he was always eager to help others in any capacity. In his younger years, he enjoyed snowmobiling with his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife Lori in 2023 and a brother Rick Rugg. Bob is survived by a son, Robert “Rob” M. Rugg and his wife Enid of Hartland; a daughter, Karen McGuire and her husband, Mike of Lisbon, NH; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother Ronald Rugg of Hartland; and a sister Joan Jarvis of Maryland
