Zach Brewer Passes Away

Zach Brewer, age 44, of Winston Salem, took his final lap into heaven on Monday, March 4, 2024, surrounded by his loving family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, March 11, 2024, at Pinedale Christian Church, with Chaplain Kyle Fromon officiating services. Visitation will take place following the service.

Zach was born in Forsyth County on November 29, 1979, to Douglas Bryce Brewer and Donna Marie Foltz Leonard. He was a graduate of North Davidson High School, class of 1998, and was a sales rep for United Rentals. Zach enjoyed racing at an early age with his career starting at the young age of five years old, when he began racing go-karts. From a small engine class in high school to the local race tracks, his love for speed and leaving tire rubber quickly escalated to Zach racing the Goody’s Dash series, the Smart Tour, and Bowman Gray Stadium. He was a three-time Dash Winner, racing for numerous teams, including the Hillbilly Racing Team where he won his last modified race at his hometown track in May of 2022.

Zach loved surf fishing up and down the coast of North Carolina and the Outer Banks. During fishing season, he was often found driving until the map turned blue with a pole in his truck and bound to hook into that once-in-a-lifetime catch. During college basketball season, he was often found watching his beloved Duke Blue Devils and annoying his friends with his commentary.

One of his most recent joys was coaching his daughters’ basketball and soccer teams which allowed him to share his passionate competitive spirit. No matter where the track or court led, his heart was always with his family. No matter where you met him or saw him last, Zach’s smile and infectious laugh always lit up the room. He never met a stranger and the hug you left with would carry you until the next time you needed a laugh or a friend.

Simply put, Zach was a one of-of-a-kind husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend that will be missed tremendously and forever remembered.

Zach met the love of his life, Kimberly, early in high school. They were married at Shady Grove Methodist Church on January 30, 2010. They shared twenty-four-years together, bringing into the world a loving daughter, Avery Grace Brewer in 2014.

Surviving to cherish his memory is wife, Kimberly Lois Baker Brewer, of the home; his daughter, Avery Grace Brewer, of the home; his father Doug Brewer of Lexington; his mother, Donna Leonard (stepfather, Jeff) of Carolina Beach; his brother, Charlie Leonard (Chasity), of Reedy Creek; his sister, Hannah Meredith (Tristan) of Winston Salem; mother and father in laws Earl and Wanda Baker; brother Chris; sister-in-law Crystal Hess; nieces, Karlie Hess and Kyndal Leonard; nephews, Tyler Hess, Archer Meredith and Ollie Leonard; and his four legged companion Reggie.

Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to Pinnacle Bank, Attn: Ms. Marlow at 831 Julian Avenue in Thomasville NC 27360. Make checks payable to Avery Grace Brewer.
