First Driver Since 2006 to Post Top 10s in First 2 Starts
LOUDON, NH — NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour rookie Tommy Barrett, Jr. finished ninth at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Saturday’s F.W. Webb 100 was his first race since winning at Bristol Motor Speedway and his fourth top 10 in the last six races.
The Millis, MA driver is the first since 2006 (James Civali) and ninth driver to record top 10 finishes in his first two starts at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Barrett finished seventh in July in the No. 22 Canto Paving/Ferguson Waterworks Chevrolet for Christopher Our.
Four of the drivers participated in the first Modified race in 1990: Mike Stefanik, Mike McLaughlin, Reggie Ruggiero and Satch Worley. Jerry Marquis (1996), John Blewett, III (1997-98) and Todd Szegedy (2002) were the next three examples. The most recent driver was James Civali, who had the best average finish since Stefanik and McLaughlin in the first two races there.
