Christopher Looks to End Drought Today

Ted Christopher of Plainville, CT has the best average finish in the F.W. Webb 100 since 1997 at 9. He is the winningest active driver at New Hampshire Motor Speedway with 5 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour wins, 21 top fives, and 29 top tens.

“I need to get a winning percentage today, though,” Christopher said. “I want a win.”

Christopher has driven for a number of teams since his last win in 2011. Brad LaFontaine and Christopher are reunited at Our Motorsports. They won the 2008 championship together.

“We know each other. we’ve raced together and won a championship before and won a lot of races.”

Christopher has 10 wins at the 1.058-mile facility, including five in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East.

“I just like the track. I like the speed of it, all that stuff. So we didn’t qualify as well as we did, but I think we got a real good car for the race today and we’ll see how it goes first half and make some adjustments and race like hell the second half.”

Christopher has a teammate in No. 13 James Civali in the second Our Motorsports car today. Christopher said it could be an advantage if they are running together and can draft.

Christopher will head to New London-Waterford (CT) Speedbowl in pursuit of his second SK Modified® championship at the 1/3-mile oval.  Christopher is third in points, nine points behind Tyler Chadwick. Christopher has eight victories this season, calling it a “phenomenal year.” He attributes their success to building a new Troyer race car. “That was the big difference.”

Christopher will remain with the Our Motorsports for Stafford and Thompson. SK Modified standout Ronnie Williams will be renting Christopher’s tour car to run at Stafford’s NAPA Fall Final October 4. Williams is sixth in the standings with six victories this season.

“He was looking to rent something, so I figured I’d offer mine. … He’s proved that he knows the track well enough.”

Christopher does not have a Modified ride set for the upcoming North-South Shootout at Concord (NC) Speedway. He will run the SK Modified race for Prestige Motorsports, which he raced at New London-Waterford Christopher has won at the banked half-mile trioval before. The event is returning to Concord after a four-year stint at Caraway Speedway in Asheboro, NC.

“I can’t wait to go there. … (A) fun track.  I like the tracks that are high speed like that.”

Christopher will have Rotator Cuff surgery after the North-South Shootout. “It just happened before Atlantic City. (I) felt some pain and had it checked out, and I’ve got two tears in my Rotator Cuff.”

Christopher intends to return January 2 for the inaugural indoor race at the PPL Center in Allentown, PA.
