Coastline Fire Protection joins the growing list of Contingency Sponsors

WATERFORD — The list of title sponsors continues to grow at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl. Coastline Fire Protection of Plainfield is the latest business to support a weekly racing division, sponsoring the Super X Cars for 2016.

The winner of each Coastline Fire Protection Super X-Car race will earn a $100 product certificate from the family-owned business. The Super X-cars make up one of the premier divisions of the Speedbowl’s Thursday Night Thunder program.
“We were approached by general manager Shawn Monahan about getting involved, and basically, we love the Thursday night divisions,” Mike Chauvin of Coastline Fire Protection said. “We wanted to show our support.

“These guys are low budget racers and I that’s why I jumped on board with this division. They appreciate the help.”

On two occasions this season, Chauvin will be presenting the winners of the X-car and super x-car features a $100 cash bonus.

“We started doing that last year and it was well received,” Chauvin said. “It’s a pleasure and honor just to be able to help support the drivers.”

Kevin Moon of Exeter, R.I., who finished third in the point standing last year with two wins, is happy a title sponsor has jumped on board for the Super X cars.

“I think it’s pretty big,” Moon said. “It’s awesome to have a sponsor like that. We can use all the help that we can get.”

For the past 28 years, Coastline has provided annual inspections on fire extinguishers and emergency lighting and offers full fire protection for all forms of racing.

Coastline’s involvement will start May 7 at the season opener, the Blastoff. Chauvin will present every feature winner with a $200 product certificate.

“My family has been a big supporter of motorsports for years,” Chauvin said. “We’ve been around the sport all of our lives. And our involvement will be bigger and better this year.

Coastline also sponsors several individual drivers such as Diego Monahan in the SK Modifieds, Ken Cassidy in the Mini Stocks, Randy Churchill and Carlos Gray in the SK Lights, Doug Curry and Jacob Perry in the Mini Stocks, Lloyd Anderson in the Late Models, Todd Taylor in the truck series and Ray Reed in the Super X cars.

The Coastline Fire Protection Super X cars will be making their 2016 debut May 7 as part of the Blastoff. Also competing opening day will be the SK Modifieds, the SK Lights, the Late Models, the Mini Stocks, the Joie of Seating Legends cars, the X-Cars, the Microblue Bandoleros and the New England Truck Series.
