Thompson, CT — Showing three winners in four races to date, the Northeastern Midget Association moves to Thompson International Speedway Thursday night. A 30-lap challenge awaits the winged warriors at Thompson, clearly the fastest circuit on the 2008 NEMA agenda.
Randy Cabral, with two wins and two seconds, takes the point lead to Thompson. The popular Cabral, who drives the Bertrand family #47, is on the verge of a couple of milestones. He is currently tied with Joey Coy, Mike Favulli and Al Pillion, all Hall of Famers, on the all-time NEMA win list. All have 15.

Oswego, NY – It was announced this morning by car owner Clyde Booth that Dave Shullick Jr. will fill the seat of the #61 supermodified for the remainder of the 2008 season on the ISMA trail. After the departure of driver Michael Barnes, there has been a great deal of speculation as to who would become the new pilot of the potent 61. The answer came today. Shullick, a nine-year supermodified veteran commented from his North Ridgeville, Ohio home.
“Clyde and I talked last Tuesday and he presented me with a proposal. I was interested and I considered the idea. Clyde has always been, in my estimation, one of the most talented car builders and owners around. It seemed like a good fit.”

Waterford, CT — It being the “year of speed” at Waterford Speedbowl, competitors are looking forward with great anticipation to qualifying for the Saturday night, July 5 Pepsi 300. Often called the “Midseason Championship,” it offers 300 laps of feature racing including century grinds for the SK-Modifieds and Late Models.Traditionally, time trials are used to qualify. It is the only opportunity the Late Models, Sportsman and Mini Stocks have to test themselves against the clock. It is one of only two opportunities for the SKs (the other being the Nationals). There are serious bragging rights involved.
