QUALIFYING: Brunnhoelzl Takes SoBo Pole

SOUTH BOSTON, Va. – George Brunnhoelzl III took the Coors Light Pole Award in NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour qualifying at South Boston Speedway on Saturday.

A lap of 14.658 seconds (98.240 mph) earned the three-time tour champion his 19th career tour pole and second fast time at South Boston.

Brian Loftin was second fastest with a lap of 14.710 seconds at an average speed of 97.893 mph. Tim Brown, who was quickest in practice; Danny Bohn; and John Smith were third, fourth and fifth, respectively. Sixth through 10th were Burt Myers, Jason Myers, Kyle Ebersole, J.R. Bertuccio Jr., and Renee Dupuis.

Andy Seuss missed both practice sessions earlier while practicing for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series at Rockingham, N.C.; but arrived at South Boston in time to qualify 13th.

Brunnhoelzl, who has led the most laps of tour competition at South Boston, will lead the field to the green flag for tonight’s race, which is set to get the green flag at 8 p.m. ET.

This event, which marks the fifth annual tour visit to South Boston, is the third on a 12-race schedule this season.
