ACT Announced $100,000 Point Funds

Waterbury, VT –The American Canadian Tour (ACT) today announced 2014 point funds for its two touring series, the ACT US and the Série ACT in Quebec, and Thunder Road International Speedbowl, that will total over one hundred and three thousand dollars ($103,000.00) to the competitors of ACT.

“We believe that the difficult recessionary times are behind us and we are looking forward to both our touring events in the US and Canada, as well as what is shaping up to be one of the most interesting weekly programs at Thunder Road that we have seen since the inception of the ACT crate motor program back in 1999,” said Tom Curley, President of ACT.

The first three ACT US races have resulted in three different winners and large fields of race teams have provided great racing action. ACT Canada begins their title run Saturday, May 24 at the Autodrome Ste Eustache in Quebec. Thunder Road’s regular point season opens with the Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic on Sunday, May 25.

The race teams that support the two tours 100% will share point funds that exceed seventy thousand dollars ($70,000). Both the US and Canadian touring groups will have 9 races scheduled in 2014. Each Tour Champion will receive ten thousand dollars ($10,000.00) at the annual ACT Banquet held in January of 2015. Fifteenth place teams at the end of the season on both ACT tours will receive point fund bonuses of $1,000 each.

Thunder Road’s “King/Queen of the Road” will take home the largest first place winner’s share ever posted at the famous high-banked quarter mile. Seven thousand, five hundred dollars ($7,500) will be the winner’s share of the total $22,500.00 in posted point fund awards for 2014.

Vice President of ACT, Darla Hartt said, “We are pleased to offer our race teams these lucrative point funds that we have been able to post. We are equally happy to pay the largest weekly purses we have ever paid at Thunder Road. Our policy is to try and spread the purse money as deep as possible, to as many competitors as we can, in all three of our divisions. Thunder Road will offer our competitors over $32,000.00 in point money for the 2014 race season.”

A full listing of the purses and point funds can be previewed on the ACT and Thunder Road websites. The ACT Late Models will begin their championship quest this Sunday at the Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic. The Bond Auto Tiger division and Allen Lumber Street Stock division have already logged a set of points after the opening Merchants Bank 150 ACT US event. Jeff Bousquet from Worcester, VT and Donny Yates from N. Montpelier have the early leads respectively in the Bond Auto Tiger and Allen Lumber Street Stock divisions.
