PRACTICE: Bonsignore Leads At Riverhead
Fastest In Rain-Shortened Riverhead 200 Session
RIVERHEAD, N.Y. – Justin Bonsignore led the way in an abbreviated NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour practice session Saturday afternoon at Riverhead Raceway.
Bonsignore, from Holtsville, New York, posted a fast lap of 12.088 seconds (74.454 mph) around the Long Island bullring before rain moved into the area.
The season-high 31-car field had approximately 35 minutes on the track in preparation for Saturday’s scheduled Riverhead 200 before the rain came.
Tom Rogers Jr. finished second on the speed chart at 12.091 (74.436) followed by Timmy Solomito at 12.100 (74.380).
Ryan Preece, Ron Silk, Patrick Emerling, Shawn Solomito, Doug Coby, Woody Pitkat and Dave Brigati brought home the top 10.
Qualifying was slated to begin at 5:30 p.m., with green flag for the Riverhead 200 at 8 p.m. With the precipitation, Saturday’s remaining schedule is currently subject to change.
