Carey, III head shotTom Carey, III out of Orange, MA will be running in the Late Models this season at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park. Carey, III ran in the Super Stock division at Monadnock for the past few seasons winning the 2014 championship at the New Hampshire quarter mile oval.

The reason for the move to the Late Model division at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park is the Late Model division runs on the ACT Tour rules. The car can be run at multiple tracks. He has enjoyed racing at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park.  Carey, III ran in the 2013 World Series in the Outlaw race. He find a good opportunity to come and race this season at the 5/8 mile oval.  He likes the 10 race schedule so he can time with his new daughter and have some fun this year.

With the ACT Tour, running a Southern New England Triple crown this season with the first one being at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl on Saturday May 21st for a 100 lap race. The second one being at Seekonk Speedway on Saturday July 16th for Propane Plus 150 and final one being held at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park for a 75 lap race at the World Series Of Racing in October. Carey, III is very interested in that because he can gain more experience since he has never ran at the Speedbowl or Seekonk before.  He also might go and run the Governor’s Cup at Lee USA Speedway with the ACT Tour this upcoming weekend since it was postponed because he has ran at Lee and now has confidence to go race at Lee.

Carey, III Action ShotThe competition in the Late Model division at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park has brought some veterans such as Larry Gelinas, Jeff and Keith Rocco, Jim Banfield and many others that has some good competition. “ That’s another reason why I came here. Nothing against Monadnock but Lee was a lot of the same thing. Their class a lot of really fast cars and you fought for top 5’s and I enjoy that. I’d rather do that than win a lot.  It makes you a better race car driver.  It makes your team a better team. What’s the point of doing it if you’re not going to get challenged ?” Carey, III Said

Tom Carey, JR has also ran a lot of laps at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park. One of the things Carey, III has learned from his dad at racing at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park is the different lines to use on the track. “ A lot of is lines and on entry. How your entry line will determine the rest of your corner if you’re going fast enough. I really like having him on the radio. I really didn’t have him on the radio on the test session and I felt like that hurt me quite a bit. I feel like I have wasted a lot of time because of that but he has helped me a lot.”

His goals for this year are to run in the top 5, win a couple races, He would like to qualify for any ACT Tour races he attempts and hopes to be a threat for the Late Model Championship and wins it at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park at the World Series Of Racing in October. “ If I said I didn’t want to win the championship. I’d be lying to you.”

Carey. III would finish 10th in his Late Model debut at the Icebreaker just a couple weeks ago.

The next event for the NASCAR Whelen All American Series at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park will be held on Wednesday night May 18th as it will be Limited Sportsman Long Distance race presented by Circuit One Events.
