Cannon McIntosh Guns for POWRi Illinois SPEED Week Crown

BIXBY, Okla. (June 6, 2018) – Cannon McIntosh ventures into new territory this week as he vies for the Sixth Annual Illinois SPEED Week crown aboard the RL Hudson/Toyota-TRD No. 08 Midget.

The Illinois SPEED Week unfolds over five nights at five different tracks beginning on Wednesday at Belleville’s Belle-Clair Speedway before moving on to Brownstown’s Fayette County Speedway.  Action shifts to Jacksonville Speedway on Friday night and then Macon Speedway on Saturday night before wrapping up at Lincoln Speedway on Sunday night.

It will mark the first time for the 15-year-old from Bixby, OK, to take in the entirety of Illinois SPEED Week.

“It’s going to be fun to race at all these different tracks,” McIntosh commented.  “The car has been working really well, so we’re looking forward to it.”

After picking off a feature win and ranking fourth in POWRi West Midget League points as a 14-year-old in 2017 to earn series Rookie of the Year honors, McIntosh has been running a mix of Midget and Sprint Car events thus far in 2018.

With eight Midget events in the books thus far, McIntosh currently sits third in POWRi West Midget League points despite missing one event along the way.  In his most recent Midget action, McIntosh led until a mishap in traffic on the opening night of the Midget Roundup at Garden City, Kansas’ Airport Raceway before rallying from 20th to fourth in the finale.

McIntosh and crew broke out the Sprint Car for last Friday’s ASCS Red River Region card at Meeker’s Red Dirt Raceway only to have the evening cut short by engine woes in hot laps.

Along with RL Hudson and Toyota-TRD, other marketing partners making the ambitious 2018 slate of events possible includes American Discount, Complete Auto Care, Best Graphics, Fieldhouse Gear, Precision Inspection, Sanders and Associates, Panels by Smoke, Walker Performance, Sanders Wheels, American Discount Brake and Muffler, D&N Fabrication and Car and Fleet.

2018 Quick Stats:  13 races, 4 top-fives, 8 top-tens.
