Michael Self Determined to Rebound in ARCA Return at Michigan

Concord, NC (June 6, 2018) – Daytona winner, Michael Self, returns to the track this weekend when the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards visits Michigan International Speedway Friday, June 8 for the running of the ZOMONGO 200.

Self, pilot of Venturini Motorsports’ No. 15 Sinclair Oil/U.S. Turf Equipment Toyota, looks to get back to form after a disappointing finish in his last series start two weeks ago at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

“I think I’m most excited about getting back in the car and having the chance to redeem myself. Charlotte was embarrassing, and it’s been difficult to shake off the mistake I made that cost our team what could’ve been a really good night,” said Self.

“I was able to test at Pocono some last week, and it felt great to make some practice laps there that felt competitive, but I’ve been itching to actually go be competing in a race after messing my last opportunity up so bad.”

A two-time winner on tour, Self has made thirteen-career ARCA Series starts since making his debut in 2014.Friday’s race marks the first time the 27-year old driver will compete on Michigan’s ultra-fast 2-mile track.

“I’ve never been to Michigan, but I’ve watched some on board footage and talked to a lot of people about the track and it sounds like a place I’m going to really like. It’s big, fast, and super wide. I’ve always enjoyed racing on the bigger tracks, and I’m excited to add another one to my resume.”

Self, a native of Park City, UT, has earned two series wins, eight top-five’s and eight top-10’s during his ARCA driving career. He also earned his first career pole position earlier this year at Talladega Superspeedway.

Friday’s ZOMONGO 200 event from Michigan International Speedway will be air live on MAVTV.

On-track ARCA action begins Friday with practice from 9 – 11 a.m., followed by General Tire Pole Qualifying at 2 p.m. Friday afternoon. The Michigan event is scheduled to get underway Friday at 5:30 p.m. ARCAracing.com will provide live timing, scoring, and chat.
