Sooner Late Models at DCRP this Saturday!

DODGE CITY, Kan. (July 9, 2019) – Late Model racing fans can get their fix at Dodge City Raceway Park this Saturday night as the Sooner Late Model Series makes its debut appearance atop the 3/8-mile DCRP clay oval in southwest Kansas.

Joining in on Saturday’s lone Late Model card of the year at Dodge City Raceway Park will be championship chase action for IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, and IMCA Hobby Stocks.

Racing action will get underway at 7:30 p.m.

While Dusty Leonard and Arizona transplant R.C. Whitwell topped the most recent pair of Sooner Late Model Series events, Kip Hughes maintains the series lead with three triumphs in nine events thus far in 2019.

Hughes enters Saturday’s card with the series lead over Damio Patochka with Steve Hawkins, Wayne Bush and John Somers also among the current top five.

In addition to Hughes, Leonard, and Whitwell, other drivers picking off wins with the series this year include Travis Johnson, Patrick Daniel and Robbie Starnes.

The IMCA Modified points race is at a boil with a mere 11 points separating the top three in the IMCA Modified ranks with William Nusser holding a nine-point edge over Trent Gray with Jesse Smith another two points back in third.

Jeff Kaup holds a 17-point advantage over Brian May in IMCA Sport Modifieds, Angel Munoz has opened up an 80-point advantage over Chris Oliver in IMCA Stock Cars and Reagan Sellard has a 93-point lead over Brian Thomas in his quest for a third consecutive IMCA Hobby Stock title.

Tickets to Saturday’s Sooner Late Model Series special event are just $15 with children 11 and under admitted for free.

In total, the 2019 season atop the 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval is slated for 18 nights of action along with another eight Sunday cards atop the newly-constructed 1/7-mile Little DCRP clay oval.
