Dick Edwards Passes Away

Richard “Dick” Edwards Leclair, 79, passed away suddenly on March 11, 2024, at his home in Exeter, NH. He was born on September 1, 1944, in Brentwood, NH, to the late Arthur M. Leclair and Priscilla (Dodge) Edwards, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, love for cars, and cherished family memories. Dick, one of six children, grew up in Exeter, NH, with his mother and stepfather Ralph Edwards.

His dedication to hard work was evident throughout his life, as he spent over 30 years as a heavy equipment operator for Rome Construction. Dick continued to work diligently until his passing, a testament to his strong work ethic and commitment.

Dick was a passionate member of the car club, Custom Kings, where he fostered his love for cars. His enthusiasm led him to build and sell street rods, with a special pride in his own purple 1950 Mercury Street Rod. He raced cars at Star Speedway in the 70s and traveled distances to various car shows, creating cherished memories with his children and visiting landmarks along the way.

Known for his great personality and constant smile, Dick’s warmth touched the lives of everyone around him. On September 19, 1966, Dick married the love of his life, Margaret “Peg” (Ryder) Leclair, with whom he built a lifetime of beautiful memories.

Dick is survived by his wife, Peg Leclair, sons, Rodney Brown and Bruce Michaud, as well as his grandchildren Mary Michaud and Abigail Michaud, and son-in-law, Michael Brazil.

Dick was predeceased by his daughter, Bonnie Leclair, and son, William Michaud.

Calling hours to celebrate Dick’s life will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024, from 9 am to 11 am at Brewitt Funeral Home in Exeter, NH, followed by a service at 11 am at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the SPCA, PO Box 196, Stratham, NH 03885, reflecting Dick’s love for animals.

May Richard’s memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew and loved him.
