South Boston Speedway Sets Season’s Richest and Longest Limited Sportsman Division Race for April 13

danville_toyota SOUTH BOSTON, VA……South Boston Speedway’s Budweiser Limited Sportsman Division competitors will race for their biggest payout of the season and will be competing in their longest race of the season when the track goes under the lights for the first time on Danville Toyota Opening Night on Saturday night, April 13.

A $1,500 prize will go to the winner of the race that will go for 75 laps around the .4-mile oval. In addition to the big prize for the winner there will be purse increases throughout the field, making the race the richest and longest race of the season for the Budweiser Limited Sportsman Division competitors at South Boston Speedway.

“We are very excited to host this race for our Budweiser Limited Sportsman Division competitors on their opening night of action for the 2024 season,” said South Boston Speedway General Manager Brandon Brown.


“We have always had great competition in our Budweiser Limited Sportsman Division and the level of the competition for this race will no doubt be ramped up to a higher level. That will make this race one of the most exciting races for the division this season and a race that fans will not want to miss. We believe in the future of our Limited Sportsman division and races like this one will elevate it for fans and competitors alike.”

A pair of special awards have also been posted for the April 13 event. In addition to the increases in the race purse, Anderson Turf Management of South Boston, Virginia will post a $500 Hard Charger Award for the race. The Anderson Turf Management Hard Charger Award will reward the driver who gains the most positions from their starting position.

Also, Sellers Racing has posted a $500 pole award for the event. The $500 Sellers Racing Pole Award will go to the driver who is the fastest in qualifying for the race.

The Danville Toyota Opening Night event on Saturday night, April 13 will feature a big night of racing with five races on the card. In addition to the 75-lap race for the Budweiser Limited Sportsman Division the track’s Sentara Health Late Model Stock Car Division competitors will battle in double 75-lap races.

South Boston Speedway’s Southside Disposal Pure Stock Division drivers and teams will open their 2024 division championship chase with a 25-lap race and the Virginia State Police HEAT Hornets Division drivers will go at it in a 20-lap race.

The April 13 Danville Toyota Opening Night event schedule has practice starting at 3:30 p.m. Qualifying starts at 6 p.m. and the first race of the night will get the green flag at 7 p.m.

Advance adult general admission tickets are priced at $12 each and may be purchased online on South Boston Speedway’s website, www.southbostonspeedway.com, or by calling the speedway office at 434-572-4947 or toll-free at 1-877-440-1540 during regular business hours.

Tickets at the gate on race night will be $15 each. Seniors ages 65 and older, military, healthcare workers, and students (with ID) can purchase tickets for $12 each at the gate on race night.
