Stafford Motor Speedway 2008 Rules Released – YankeeRacer.com

Stafford Motor Speedway 2008 Rules Released

Stafford Springs, CT — Stafford Motor Speedway has updated their rule book for the upcoming 2008 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series season for all five of its weekly divisions, and the rules are available online now in the DOWNLOADS/RULES section of www.staffordspeedway.com.

The release of the 2008 rulebook this early on in the off-season marks an unprecedented release date for Stafford Motor Speedway. Normally, the track would host competitor meetings at the end of October and the rules would be finalized and released sometime in December. But starting with the update of the Late Model sway bar rule prior to the 2007 Tech-Net Spring Sizzler, the Stafford Tech Staff found that implementing rule changes for the 2007 season as well as the 2008 season would serve to have the rulebook posted in a much quicker fashion and would be a great benefit to competitors.

“This is the earliest we’ve ever released the rules for a new season,” said SMS COO/GM Mark Arute. “With this early release of the rules, our regular competitors as well as any new competitors can get a better understanding of what we’re looking for next season in each division and they can start building their cars accordingly. Everyone we’ve talked to is extremely happy with the early release of the rules so they know what they need for their cars. With the swap meet this weekend at Stafford and with several more swap meets coming up, our competitors can begin to look for the parts they will need for the 2008 season. The 2007 season has definitely been one of the smoothest seasons we’ve had in the tech area,” “The fact that we’ve had such a smooth season and we’re able to release our rules almost two months in advance of our normal rule release time is a credit to everyone on our tech staff and the great job that they do for us.”

Throughout the 2007 season, the Stafford Motor Speedway rulebook was updated and changes were made to facilitate the release of the rulebooks for the upcoming 2008 season with the SMS Tech Staff now already looking towards the 2009 rulebook.

Each Stafford Motor Speedway division saw minor changes for the 2008 season. The SK Modified® division will have aluminum bodies allowed, a new 11.5 to 1 compression ratio for all engines, and DART Heads, part number 10024266 will be permitted.

Stafford’s Late Model division will be switching its body rule to the NASCAR A-B-C body rule. Other body changes include doors can be either steel or aluminum, fenders can be either steel or plastic, and the rear deck / trunk can be either steel or aluminum. The Late Model division will have the same 11.5 to 1 compression ration for all engines like the SK Modified® division and the DART Head 10024266 will also be permitted. RaD Automachine is based out of Ludlow, MA and can be contacted at 1-413-583-4414.

For teams running the optional crate engine package, the minimum weight of the car has been lowered to 3,000 pounds and the left side weight has been increased to 54% while the traditional non-crate engine cars will remain at 3,100 pounds and 53% left side weight. Further rule adjustments have been made to the Battery, Trailing Arm, Shock, A-Frame, Track Width, and Wheelbase rules.
